I worked on the math and Spanish room murals. I drew a couple numbers and shapes for math and painted a bunch of other stuff and for Spanish I painted the llama and some of the letters on hola. I really enjoyed painting the murals and seeing what looked good and getting better at my creativity process while doing so. The most challenging part of the murals was getting perfect lines and not making a mess and cleaning it up right away if I did. My favorite part was painting some of the bigger spaces then filling in the small parts and seeing it become something amazing. I think these murals will make our school look more creative and like a better environment for learning and creativity and give it some character instead of just having plain walls.

Artist: Nick S Title: Dead Light Bulb My assemblage sculpture is a light bulb hanging on a rope. This sculpture represents the responsibilities of people and the stress it can cause. If we don’t do what we’re supposed to do then people might not rely on us as much and that might cause us to get stressed out and lose ourselves. Such stress can lead to this kind of outcome if we feel we aren’t useful or wanted anymore. The main concept or idea of my sculpture is to show what happens when people get stressed and stop feeling wanted or feel they don’t have a purpose anymore. I wanted to startle or surprise you by hanging a light bulb by a rope to represent that the lightbulb, whose one job is to produce light, can’t do it’s one purpose anymore and starts to feel unwanted and useless. The exact same thing can happen in people if they can’t do what their purpose in life is anymore and they might end up doing such things if they don’t get help or start feeling wanted and useful again. I think I was most successful at creating my idea clearly. You can clearly see it’s a light bulb that doesn’t work anymore and as a result it becomes dead. People can feel the same way of not thinking they’re helping or doing something right then start to feel useless and can end up dead from these thoughts. The spaces I'd be improving are the lunchroom and the gym wall. The people who gather in these spaces are the students, teachers, and other guests who come to our school. The way the spaces look currently are too boring they're just one solid color. My design would improve them by giving people something to look at when they walk by and think "wow, this looks amazing."
For this project I choose a bunch of art utensils that I found around the room. I choose them because I really like art and I wanted to put something art related into it instead of just random stuff I found around the room. I had some things going off the paper and some things repeating which I think makes it interesting. One unique thing in my artwork would be the small shapes I put around my artwork. My favorite design is the light blue with the black diamonds in it just because it stands out. I learned how to add different designs and what designs to add and how to make my artwork look creative.
I chose a picture of the sunset reflecting onto the water in front of some mountains. I chose it because I think it looked beautiful and the colors looked really nice in it. The material I used was chalk because it blended well and it looked nice with what I was doing. Something I improved on was blending chalk colors together without using too much or too little of one color. Another thing I learned was how to add detail to something that doesn't have almost any detail in it at all. Something I found challenging was coloring certain areas without spreading the chalk all over the paper or blending the dark colors properly. I worked really hard on having good colors in this project without getting too much or too little of one color. Nature Pastel Drawing
One unique idea I used in my artwork was the colors of the houses and how they're bright and not really what you'd usually see. Doing this project helped me improve my drawing by showing me how certain angles would look and different POV's. Something I really focused on was getting the lines straight and even and just making the houses look nice. I focused on it since I knew if I messed up on it then my entire project would be messed up. I'm really pleased with how the bark on the tree looks and how nice and even everything is because I was really focusing on making the lines look nice and giving the tree nice color to it. If I was able to go back and redo this I'd definitely plan on the colors ahead of time if I could because it would definitely make my project a lot better.
For this project I created a lantern/cookie jar shaped like a pumpkin. What inspired me to do this was Halloween and because it sounded fun to do. Some unique ideas I added was that it can be both a lantern and cookie jar and that it looks kinda more realistic now that I messed it up and made it look a little uneven and lumpy. A clay skill I improved while working on this was my ability to just smooth it well without breaking it or missing things. One thing I'm pleased with is the face and how it looks actually kinda okay. One difficulty was just building it up and trying to smooth it more at the top when it got smaller. I think I will put it in my living room right next to our clay frog and use it as a lantern.
I chose nature for my theme so I think involving flowers is a good way to express nature. I chose flowers to represent mine.I don't think anyone else had an entire picture with just flowers in it. I chose 4 small round blue flowers, a flower in a pot, a big drop of water, and a bell flower. I made a collage of it. I'm pleased with how bright and pretty it is. I just like having bright pretty colors.(Left- in progress) (Right- Finished)
Something that inspired me was seeing Porter Robinson's stage and how he really likes nature and used it a lot for it. I was looking at pictures of his stage and album and saw some fan art of it and decided to just kinda combine the two of them. I made it like this to mimic the shape of a stage and involve nature and have it coming off the sides just so it doesn't look so flat or boring. One of the challenges I had were cutting the pieces of paper properly and getting everything to fit and work together without having too much or too little of one thing. I'm really pleased with the background of my art project and how it looks nice for the most part and how simple the whole thing was. I'd probably make it bigger so I can add more to it if I finished early or had more ideas. I enjoyed finishing physical therapy and going to Aberdeen to see my grandparents and to visit one of the colleges there. My favorite artwork that I made was something I made at home that I still haven't finished but it's pretty much done already. Two goals I have for this year in art is to get better at making art and to get more creative when working on a project. Some things I am looking forward to this year are football, my shoulder getting fully healed, and spending more time with friends.
